The Mission Behind Trey’s
How a side job at fifteen became the shop in Bluffdale. The story, the team and the standard, in the owner’s own words.
How it started
The first car I ever detailed was my mom’s. I was fifteen and wanted to make some extra money on the side. I have always loved cars, and after seeing a few videos about detailing I figured it would be a fun business to start. So I cleaned hers, then started cleaning cars for my coworkers at the restaurant I was working at. That is how I got my foot in the door.
I started making good money, but more than that, I really enjoyed it. Meeting new people, the process itself (it scratched an OCD itch for me), and getting to work on some cool cars along the way. It was something I could see myself doing long term, because every part of it fulfilled me.
I am a people person. I love my clients, and I love building relationships, whether that is with new customers, existing customers, or my team. Getting to solve a problem for someone, whether that is getting their car ready for a special occasion or just taking something off their plate, is really fulfilling. Seeing people happy and taking care of them is the whole thing for me.
My name is on it
With my name behind the company, it matters to me that everyone has a great experience. Getting work done with us is an investment, and we want to stand on the absolute best quality possible and never fall short of it. I always think about how I would want to be treated if I were the customer.
From the time someone calls us to the time they drop off their vehicle or we show up at their home, and after the service is finished, I want them thrilled. Anything short of that is not acceptable.
The standard is simple: anything less than perfect bothers us. A small smudge on a window, a speck of dirt behind the spokes of a rim, a piece of dust on the dash. We strive for perfection on every service we provide, from detailing all the way up to paint protection film.
The work we’re proudest of
Hard to say, because a lot of the cars we have done have been rewarding. Sometimes it is helping out a mom who just needs an extra hand and is embarrassed about the clutter that built up, and seeing how happy she is when we finish. Sometimes it is a client who loves the stripes we leave in the carpet and is blown away by how clean we got the car.
And a lot of the time it is simply a client who is happy with the entire experience, from the communication to the service to the follow up after, knowing they were taken care of the whole way through.
Spent hours attending to every detail. Turned my crumb, trash, dog hair car into a brand new car. I was absolutely impressed. 100% Recommend!!!
The team
We are growing the team steadily while keeping quality as high as possible. Right now our team is Justin Kortan and Crew Savage.
Justin was actually a client of ours first. He heard about us through another client, and when we started hiring, he reached out because he wanted to be part of the company.
Showed up on time and my truck turned out incredible! Justin attention to detail is amazing. Little nooks and crannies that I didn’t know existed were taken care of. Compliments on my truck by neighbors. Highly recommend
Why System X and Ghost Film
We went out for training with both manufacturers to learn their specific products, the quirks of their material, and the best ways to install them. We went that route because we had tried various other products and were unhappy with a lot of what we saw. Films failing, films lifting, ceramic coatings failing prematurely.
We wanted the best products on the market, and out of everything we have run, these have given us the best results. We are always looking, though. If something better comes along, we will use it.
What each one does, and what it costs, is on ceramic coating and paint protection film.
Bluffdale, and where this goes
Bluffdale is a very central point for us. We service clients all over Utah County and Salt Lake County, and this location lets us reach both client bases far better than our previous shop did.
We want to keep growing while maintaining the highest level of quality possible. Over the next five years that means a bigger shop, a strong team that works well together, and potentially a couple of locations so we can serve more customers. But the root factor is quality first. Whether we end up with five locations or still just one, we want to keep providing the highest quality and the best experience possible for all of our clients, not just some of them.
